I came to faith in Christ as a high school sophomore through the ministry of Young Life, and met Leslie a year later working at a YL summer camp. We were married in 1972 and have three adult children: Sarah (recently married to Jake Dodson), Jeff (recently married to Carrie), and David who are active in the life of the church.

I arrived in Northern California as a Stanford freshman in the Fall of 1967 and began attending PBC almost immediately; spent one year as an intern after graduation; and joined the pastoral staff in the summer of 1972. I have served in almost every capacity of church life. I enjoy reading mysteries, science fiction and theology - and have given up hope of ever feeling comfortable with the world of electronic communication. My hobbies include golf and Stanford sports fandom.

    Biblical Passage for Consideration

"Follow the pattern of the sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus; guard the truth that has been entrusted to you by the Holy Spirit who dwells within us." 2 Timothy 1:13, 14

    Ministry Passion

A long obedience in the same direction! We have the opportunity (unusual for this part of the world) to bear witness to the work of God over time, from one generation to the next. We can share a light on what lasts because it is eternal and to the pitfalls of prizing old wineskins as containers for new wine.

Gratitude! Perhaps the surest sign of Christian maturity is the overflow of a grateful heart.
