Psalm 107 is a set of four redemption stories and instruction to readers on the plight of the lost and the redeeming nature of God. In each of the four stories a crisis point and its resolution are described with the same two verses repeated: "Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress . . . Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men!" I want to use the four stories (the lost, the addicted, the depressed, and the self-important) to encourage our folks to speak up and tell their own story (v.2)--and to whet our appetites for the Missions Weekend.
